Belgian Waffles

The origin of waffles goes back to Belgium where they first appeared in the eighteenth century. They were traditionally served during public celebrations and local festivities before evolving into one of Europe’s most famous desserts especially after being showcased to the world at the Brussels World’s Fair and later in the United States.
From there the Belgian waffle gained its global fame becoming a symbol of Belgian sweets to this day.

Despite its popularity in cafés and specialty shops achieving the same authentic flavor and texture at home is surprisingly easy. All you need is the right ingredients and a proper waffle maker.
Belgian waffles rely on a simple batter that creates their signature crisp exterior and fluffy interior which makes the homemade version just as good as the original and often even better since it is served fresh with toppings of your choice like melted chocolate fruits or a scoop of ice cream.
